I have spent more than two decades investigating, evaluating, and litigating complex personal injury cases across Montana. Early in my career, I worked closely with the insurance companies and corporations that spend enormous sums every year to minimize or deny claims. I saw firsthand how adjusters evaluate a claim, how they investigate it, and the tactics they use to pay injured people far less than they deserve.
In 2014 I resigned my partnership with a historic Montana law firm and struck out on my own, building a practice dedicated exclusively to helping injured people and those wronged by their insurance companies. I have never wavered from that decision, and I am grateful for the hundreds of opportunities I have had since then to achieve impactful, life changing results for my clients. In 2024 I partnered with A.J. Miller to form Miller Tourtlotte Law, PLLC.
My practice takes me into state and federal courtrooms across Montana. I am licensed to practice law in Montana, admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and I have been asked to appear in and handle cases in other jurisdictions through pro hac vice admission. Whether the fight involves a serious automobile accident, a denied workers’ compensation claim, an insurer acting in bad faith, or the wrongful death of a family member, my job is the same: level the playing field against companies that count on injured people giving up.
Montana is not just where I practice. It is home.
Throughout my life I have advocated for public access to Montana’s lands and waters, including through my previous service on the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Commission. Protecting high quality access to outdoor recreation across the state matters to me, both as a lawyer and as a Montanan.
Away from the office, I spend my time with my family. The Tourtlotte family is highly engaged in scholastic and club activities throughout Montana and the Western Region, and we believe strongly in showing up for the communities that support us.
